filter_dramaClass Description
Cardiac surgery is the crown jewel of operative medicine, where technical precision and speed are critical to navigating life-and-death thoracic conditions. This 24-hour intensive course challenges students to develop both finesse and efficiency while mastering advanced cardiac surgical techniques. Training begins with cardiac cannulation for cardiopulmonary bypass, followed by simulated coronary artery bypass grafting and aortic, mitral, and tricuspid valve replacement and repair. To deepen anatomical understanding and procedural context, students will study the intricate beauty of cardiac anatomy using both bovine heart specimens and 3D-printed soft models. Students will then progress to complex thoracic aortic interventions, including simulated aneurysm, dissection, and trauma repair. Advanced procedures include ascending aortic hemiarch repair under profound hypothermic circulatory arrest, as well as the Bentall and Cabrol procedures and repair of traumatic thoracic aortic transection. By the conclusion of this course, participants will have acquired a comprehensive set of advanced cardiac surgical skills, preparing them for the most demanding challenges in medicine.
