This advanced 8-hour course applies the technical skills developed in Cardiac Surgery 101 to some of the most complex thoracic aortic procedures in operative medicine. Students will be challenged to perform interventions that demand technical mastery, precision, and speed in simulated high-stakes environments. Training includes the management of aneurysms, dissections, and traumatic aortic injuries, with surgeries such as: - Ascending aortic hemiarch repair under simulated profound hypothermic circulatory arrest - Bentall and Cabrol procedures with coronary reimplantation - Repair of traumatic thoracic aortic transection By the conclusion of this course, students will have gained exposure to the highest level of cardiac surgical challenges, equipping them with the technical depth and confidence to advance toward mastery in cardiovascular surgery.
