Under the supervision of aerospace professionals and communications engineers, students will enjoy creating an operational satellite tracking antenna and computer system that connects to a global network (SatNOGS)and tracks real satellites in low-Earth orbit. You'll be part of an incredible international community.
Who Can Join:- Grades 8–10
Students: What We Will Do Together In This Class- Build a functional antenna system to track Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellites
- Set up a station to track satellites in real time
- Integrate our station with the global SatNOGS satellite tracking network
- Learn how orbital satellite tracking works
- Look for unknown satellites
PLUS you will have the option to earn your ham radio license — a valuable STEM credential
Please note: the fee for this program helps offset a very small portion of the cost, the remaining cost is funded by PVNet Philanthropy & donations for this class. Parents are encouraged to make a small donation to help defray the expenses to PVNet nonprofit.
Parents: What Makes This Very Special
- Students are mentored by experienced professionals.
- Gain college-level skills in communication systems, electronics, and satellite operations
- Participate in a real mission that contributes data to a global network
- Learn about the thousands of satellites orbiting Earth and their roles
- Excellent for for demonstrating interest and commitment in college applications, resumes, and STEM program pathways
