LET'S TRACK SOME SATELLITES!
Under the supervision aerospace professionals and communications engineers, you’ll enjoy creating an operational satellite tracking antenna system that connects to a global network (SatNOGS)and tracks real satellites in low-Earth orbit. You'll be part of an incredible international community.
Who Can Join:- Grades 8–12
Students: What We Will Do Together In This Class- Build a functional antenna system to track Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellites
- Set up a station to track satellites in real time
- Integrate our station with the global SatNOGS satellite tracking network
- Learn how orbital satellite tracking works
- Look for unknown satellites
PLUS you will have the option to earn your ham radio license — a valuable STEM credential
Parents: What Makes This Very Special- Students are mentored by aerospace engineers and industry professionals
- Gain college-level skills in communication systems, electronics, and satellite operations
- Participate in a real mission that contributes data to a global network
- Learn about the thousands of satellites orbiting Earth and their roles
- Excellent for college applications, resumes, and STEM program pathways
For additional info go to PVNet's official project webpage: https://www.pvnet.com/satellitetracking
This is the foundation of a long-term aerospace pathway at PVNet, where students don’t just learn — they lead. -
placeAdditional Information1) Students must bring a laptop 2) No Classes on Holidays 3) Please note the fee for this program helps offset a very small portion of the cost, the remaining cost is funded by PVNet Philanthropy. 4) Students are welcome to build a home antenna or complete station by purchasing their own parts.
