Thinking about designing games? Have you heard of Fortnite? Unreal Engine is a Game Development Engine & Blender is an internationally acclaimed 3D modeling program. Unreal Engine powers Epic Games video games like Fortnite and the Unreal, Gears of War, and Infinity Blade series. In 2014, Unreal Engine was named the "most successful videogame engine" by Guinness World Records. Students will learn how to use Unreal Engine's visual scripting feature, which allows an easy way to build codes even without prior knowledge in programming. Using this feature, the class will teach how to build a simple platform game, and in the process introduce the basics of 3D design and programming using such as "if" statements and variables. Thanks to the visual scripting feature, Unreal Engine is a great way for beginners to try out coding for the first time in an engaging and highly rewarding manner. Yes - there is a future in this. Unreal is currently working closely with Nvidia and AI.     This is a 10 unit elective course. Students are invited and encouraged to bring their gaming ready laptop computers to this class where they will install Unreal & Blender so that they can practice what they learn at home between classes.
