In this 16-week, 32-hour introductory course, high school students will embark on a thrilling journey that combines science, engineering, and design principles inspired by nature. Biomimicry, often referred to as "nature's best ideas," involves imitating biological systems, processes, and structures found in plants, animals, and microorganisms to solve human challenges and create sustainable innovations. Throughout the course, students will engage in hands-on activities, group projects, and discussions to reinforce their understanding of biomimicry's principles and applications. By the end of this course, students will have gained knowledge, skills and a deeper appreciation for the wonders of nature and the potential of biomimicry to solve real-world problems while fostering a sustainable future. Note: This class will help students prepare for the Biomimicry competition in 2024, and may inspire students to participate in furture science fair competitions.
