This hands-on course introduces students to the fundamentals of laparoscopic and endoscopic surgery, the modern techniques used to perform operations through very small incisions.

Students develop the dexterity, coordination, and spatial awareness required to operate surgical instruments using a video-guided system, similar to the technology used in real operating rooms.

    Simulated procedures include:
    - Gallbladder removal (cholecystectomy)
    - Gallbladder drainage (cholecystostomy)
    - Appendectomy
    - Bowel repair

Students then advance to more complex procedures such as:
    - Hiatal hernia repair
    - Fundoplication
    - Heller myotomy

Training emphasizes fine motor control, teamwork, and problem-solving in a high-focus surgical environment. Students who are comfortable with video games often adapt quickly to the hand-eye coordination required for minimally invasive surgery.

    Students will gain:
    - Experience using minimally invasive surgical tools
    - Improved hand-eye coordination and precision
    - Understanding of laparoscopic and endoscopic procedures
    - Insight into modern surgical technology

This immersive course provides valuable early exposure to one of the fastest-growing areas of medicine.
