This course introduces students to programming concepts for game design using Unity 3D and Unreal Engine. The class will utilize coding and visual scripting features in order to build an understanding of the fundamentals of programming, all while designing and creating a platforming game. Unreal Engine is a Game Development Engine popularly used in the gaming industry, providing the backbone for many popular game titles. Students will learn how to use Unreal Engine’s visual scripting feature, which allows an easy way to build codes even without prior knowledge in programming. Unity is a Game Development Engine used as a standard across many industries, from Video Games to Architecture. Students will learn how to program using C#, the scripting language that Unity uses to control game objects. C# is very similar to Java, so any students who have taken Java classes will be able to learn a new language and see how their skills translate into a visual system.
