**ALERT: EXCELLENT FOR COLLEGE APPS** This class can be free! It's easy - just register for any 2 or more summer classes where the combined cost exceeds the fee for this course. Why are we offering this? Because PVNet is a non-profit and we want students to receive a better education and make the world a better place for animals. This class includes 2 workshops to learn how to design parts using a 3D design program. Also students will meet with a veterinarian during a class meeting. Ask questions, get advice, and show off your ideas! Millions of people and animals require use of a wheelchair of some type. This class brings together many exciting opportunities to learn, design, and create. There is something for everyone in this class. - Veterinary medicine (related to wheelchairs for dogs) - Engineering - Art & Ergonomics - Animal rehabilitation (rear paralyzed dog) - Healthcare (humans use wheelchairs) - CAD design - 3D printing - Workshop fabrication processes (hands on) Students will receive input and advice from professionals. A medical grade professionally made dog wheel chair will serve as the basis for their learning and design experience. Real World Experience ================ Working alone, collaborating with a partner, or working as a team (important skills to learn), students will prototype and refine their ideas to build and bring their final design to life and see it used by a paralyzed dog in need! This will be a fantastic project to include in your college application and resume. BENEFITS: Too many to list =================== - Small work group size = more attention - Enhanced experience far beyond high schools and even many colleges. - Opportunities for professional development - Excellent for improving academic & job opportunities
